In 1962, Foster Stadium was built for the Institute, and the field was named in honor of all those alumni who had gone on to fight the nation’s wars. In 2006, the stadium was renovated to improve the seating and concessions, as well as add a jumbotron viewing screen. In keeping with the Institute’s stress on history and tradition, during the renovation, it was decided to resist the tide of artificial turf, and the school decided to keep its Bermuda Grass playing surface.
The capacity of the stadium is 10,000. On the day of a game, the Corps of Cadets marches onto the field while the cannon named Little John is fired. The band will play traditional songs such as Shenandoah and The Spirit. You will see the Corps do a push-up for every point the Keydets score.
