The performing circus the Zuzu African Acrobats hail from Tanzania to celebrate and demonstrate the 2,000-year-old East African Bantu culture. Their breathtaking and colorful 90-minute show includes feats of dish spinning, contortion, stick and chair balancing and juggling.

Every cast member of the troupe has attended the Bagayamo Arts and Cultural Institute, where they received special instruction on practicing and performing ancient traditions to audiences worldwide. The cast includes acrobats, dancers and accompanying musicians.

Performances of hoop diving, unicycling and other amazing feats are accompanied by humor, human pyramids and other surprises, all to the sound of African rhythms, performed with the use of Tanzanian Ngoma, or drums. 

The artistic director of the troupe is Matiga Koba, who is also a drummer and dancer. Koba grew up in the town of Bagamoyo, which lies along the Indian Ocean. He started performing at an early age with ensembles such as the Mother Afrika Circus, Shada Group, the Bagamoyo Spirits Band and the SAMAWA project. He joined the Zuzu African Acrobats in 2020.
