Cullen started under the name Zero and began as a hip-hop artist who started building a following with his 2016 EP Paradise Campground. In 2019 Zero added 9:36 to his name and began to differentiate himself as a singer, producer and instrumentalist.

Cullen made his first studio appearance at ten years old when he helped out with a child’s vocal sample. With his style growing more abrasive and adding in industrial elements Zero 9:36 released the EP You Will Not Be Saved in 2019.
