As Hart cultivated his rap skills, he became heavily influenced by the hip hop group Goodie Mob. His professional rap career began when he signed to the local label Tight 4 Life under the name Dro. He released his hit “Yes Sir” with the label in 2001. In 2004 he signed with T.I.’s label, Grand Hustle. He then released his commercial debut song “Shoulder Lean” in ‘06, as well as his first major-label album Best Thang Smokin’. “Shoulder Lean” attained massive popularity, and Best Thang Smokin’ debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200 chart. Young Dro was featured as part of XXL Magazine’s Top 10 Freshman list in 2007 alongside future stars Lupe Fiasco and Lil Boosie. Dro put out a number of mixtapes leading up to his second studio album High Times, released in 2013. The album included collaborations with a handful of other stars, T.I. being chief among them. High Times charted at number 57 on the Billboard 200 and at number nine on Top Rap Albums. Dro released his third album, Da Reality Show, in 2015. He continues to tour widely.
