Kawasaki was born in New York City in 1977 and began learning to play the violin at six years old under the instruction of his father. As he grew up, he was mentored by Setsu Goto. By the age of ten, Kawasaki had begun training at the Juilliard School Pre-College Division. He would later win the school’s concerto competition. As a young man, Kawasaki trained at the Juilliard School under Dorothy DeLay and Hyo Kang.
After graduation, the young violinist enjoyed a successful career leading a number of leading orchestras. In the late '90s and early 2000s, he served as concertmaster for the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, Century Orchestra and Mito Chamber Orchestra. Kawasaki founded the critically acclaimed D’Amici String Quartet, achieving international fame through his interpretations of Beethoven’s sonatas in particular.
