Step into the mind of Angelique Kidjo with Yemandja tickets from TicketSmarter. Yemandja is the first theater project taken on by superstar Angelique Kidjo. Kidjo is a three-time Grammy award winner who is an international pop star. Growing up in Benin, West Africa, Kidjo combines the traditions she grew up with American and European influences in her music.

After taking the music industry by storm, Kidjo makes her theatrical premiere in Yemandja. Yemandja is set in the 1800s in Dahomey, West Africa, which is now Benin. The play is reminiscent of Greek tragedies with gods tampering in the human world. Yemandja deals with themes like horrors of slavery, free will, love and betrayal. Although Angelique Kidjo came up with the concept, Yemandja was actually written by her daughter Naima Hebrail Kidjo.

The show is directed by Cheryl Lynn Bruce and is produced by The Office performing arts + film. Kerry James Marshall was the visual designer for the show. Kidjo will play a character who was given the gift of song by the gods to help change the course of history. What are the best seats to see Yemandja live?

Opera seating choices rely on both financial capabilities and personal viewing preferences. Audience members should choose mid-to-front rows in the center orchestra for the ideal sound and view combination but those who want a grand panoramic perspective should opt for seats in the front mezzanine or balcony. People should choose seats in the middle orchestra or mezzanine for the best acoustic experience because opera houses have sound systems that transmit sound efficiently to these areas. The rear orchestra and balcony sections offer affordable seating choices at the expense of slightly reduced sound quality.
