See the best gymnasts compete each year for the gold medal with your World Gymnastics Championships tickets from TicketSmarter. There are a number of world championships held each year in gymnastics. Six different disciplines are organized by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), including acrobatic, aerobic, and artistic gymnastics. Lesser-known disciplines like trampoline and tumbling, parkour, and rhythmic gymnastics also occur.

The oldest world championships in gymnastics go back to 1903. Artistic gymnastics was the first disciple to hold a world championship. Athletes perform short routines on the vault or floor. Men’s championships feature the still rings and pommel horse, while women’s events see the exclusive balance beam and uneven bars.

Some disciplines, like the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships, are held only in even years. This competition sees groups or pairs display complex moves on the floor. The events may appear similar to cheerleading competitions, however, there are usually only two to four gymnasts competing at a time.

Countries that dominate the Summer Olympics have had considerable success at the world championships. Russia and China routinely compete for the gold medal at the Olympics and do the same at the world championships in nearly every category. Purchase World Gymnastics Championships in the trampoline discipline to see the United States finish near the top. They’re second all-time behind Russia in total gold medals on the trampolines.
