Wolf Parade debuted its first studio album, Apologies to the Queen Mary, in 2005. The album was an instant hit and received a nomination for a 2006 Polaris Music Prize. The band gained further recognition after releasing its second album, At Mount Zoomer, in 2008. The critically acclaimed album peaked at No. 16 in Canada and No. 45 in the United States.
Wolf Parade's success led to a greater demand for Wolf Parade tickets when the band began touring again in late 2008. In 2010, Wolf Parade released its third studio album, Expo 86, which reached No. 24 on Canada charts and No. 48 in the United States. The group went on tour in 2010 and 2011 in North America and Canada and performed at the Sasquatch! Music Festival. Following its tour, Wolf Parade took a brief hiatus.
Wolf Parade reunited in 2016 and released its fourth studio album, Cry Cry Cry, the following year. Cry Cry Cry was well-received in both Canada and the US and peaked within the top 100 on the charts for both countries. The band's fifth studio album, Thin Mind, was released in 2020.
