In 2017 Winston Surfshirt released their debut album Sponge Cake, which became a top twenty-five hit on the Australian charts.

They then greatly increased their exposure in the wake of a successful tour opening for high-profile artist Rufus Du Sol. They again found charting success in 2019 with the release of their album Apple Crumble, a top fifty hit in Australia.
