Windhand is a heavy metal band from Virginia known for its aggressive sound, occult themes and use of elements from psychedelic rock. The members are Parker Chandler, Ryan Wolfe, Garrett Morris and Dorthia Cottrell. Windhand came together in Richmond in 2008, releasing their two-song demo Practice Space Demo in 2010. 

By 2012 the band’s efforts had earned them a deal with Forcefield Records, through which they released their self-titled debut album in 2012. Despite several lineup changes, the band released their sophomore effort, Soma, in 2013. Soma would reach within the top twenty-five on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums, and was named one of the best heavy metal albums of the year by Rolling Stone. 

In 2015 Windhand collaborated with star producer Jack Endino to release Grief’s Infernal Flower, which reached the top ten on Billboard’s Heatseekers and the top twenty on Billboard’s Hard Rock Albums. Publications like Consequence of Sound named Grief’s Infernal Flower one of the top twenty albums of the year. The band’s 2018 album Eternal Return was perhaps their most successful, however, reaching the number three spot on Heatseekers.
