Both before and after their marriage in 2006, the two musicians continued to work on their folk-rock solo careers, with Luke also being Sarah McLachlan’s touring guitarist and Melissa opening many Blue Rodeo shows as a soloist, but by 2011 had pursued a new band together. The band has toured across Canada. As they are a duo, Whitehorse uses loopers or phase samplers to create live looping in their music.

The band has recorded multiple EPs such as The Road to Massey Hall released in 2013, Éphémère sans repère, with French lyrics in 2014 and The Northern South, Vol. 1 in 2016. Their full-length LP catalog includes their debut album Whitehorse released in 2011, followed by The Fate of the World Depends on This Kiss released in 2012, which won the Hamilton Music Award for Adult Alternative Recording of the Year and Leave No Bridge Unburned in 2021 for which they were awarded a Juno Award for Adult Alternative Album of the Year, among others.
