Hear these Dutch trip-hop artists bend the genre with Weval tickets. Merijn Scholte Albers and Harm Coolen make up this trip-hop act from the Netherlands. The two friends meet working within the film industry on sound design back in 2010. By 2013 the duo had produced and released an EP Half Age with the label Atomnation. They performed their premier show live at the Pitch Festival soon after to rave reviews. In 2014 the single “Detian” was used in a Schweeps ad rocketing the duo to fame. That single topped out at #5 on the iTunes Electronica top 100. The remix of the next single “Take Control” hit #1 on Beatport’s Electronica Top 100.
Weval signed with the label Kompakt in 2014 and released two more Eps Easier in 2014 and It’ll Be Just Fine / Grow Up in 2015. Their first full-length studio album, the self-titled Weval, dropped in 2016, with a remix EP dropping a year later featuring Margo, Red Axes, and Kasper Bjorke. Their sophomore album The Weight was released in 2019, then re-released in 2021 with a different track sequence. Weval blends house music and jazz together to create their unique spin on trip-top that audiences can only see like with Weval tickets.
