Upon hearing that Miller had moved to Seattle, the two reached out and the three formed a music project, sharing songwriting and lead singing duties, with the philosophy of a band without a leader or a ship without a captain.
The three have great admiration for old-time, bluegrass and country music. However, they have no fear of flying in the face of convention and do not shy away from doing things in nontraditional ways in instrumentation, arrangement, or sentiment. Their third album, Call the Captain, is a direct ironic referral to their lack of a defined leader.
