The Von Heideche’s Chicago Festival Ballet was founded in 1990 by world-renowned choreographer Kenneth Von Heideche. Von Heideche began his career in 1975 when chosen to perform in the world premiere of Orfeo ed Euridice where he was trained by the legendary prima ballerina, Maria Tallchief. Tallchief was 1 of only 6 ballet dancers in the world to achieve the title Prima Ballerina Assoluta and served as artistic advisor to the company from its founding until her death in 2013. The pair quickly elevated Von Heideche’s Chicago Festival Ballet to a place of distinction in the world of ballet and the greater dance community.
The school associated with the company prepares students for professional careers in ballet and trains students using the Russian Vaganova method and the Balanchine method. Every spring, the company performs Prokofiev’s Cinderella, and each winter they perform Tchaikovchy’s The Nutcracker. They round out their annual repertoire with other classical, romantic and neoclassical works by a variety of 19th and 20th century masters. Step into the graceful world of classical ballet with Von Heideche’s Chicago Festival Ballet tickets from TicketSmarter.
