The musical community formed by the Atlanta Women’s Chorus and the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus is known as Voices of Note and has the common dedicated purpose of the pursuit of vocal excellence as an agent of social change. Their performances are done to inspire and initiate that conversation.
The Atlanta Women’s Chorus is a 70-member diverse choir of all ages, religions and strata. The group was founded in 2013 as a small ensemble sponsored by the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus. The Chorus had its debut full length concert in 2014 and now functions independently under the umbrella organization Voices of Note, Inc and performs three concerts along with numerous performances each season. The Artistic Direct of the Chorus is Melissa Arasi.
See a great concert with Voices of Note tickets. The Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus was established in 1981 by Jeffrey McIntyre, drawing inspiration from the creation of the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus. It is the only organization of its type in the South. The chorus performs an annual holiday concert as well as putting on performances of Broadway songs as well as novel pieces of choral theatre, such as I am Harvey Milk, Two Boys Kissing and When I Was Your Age. The Artistic Director of the Chorus is Donald Milton III.
