Verdi: Requiem Tickets

Verdi Requiem Concert Tickets

Attend a performance of the setting for a Catholic funeral mass with Verdi Requiem tickets. The Italian composer Giuseppe Fortunino Francesco Verdi lived from 1813 to 1901 and was best known for his operas. He composed his Messa da Requiem, in memorial of his friend Alessandro Manzoni, a poet and novelist who Verdi held in high regard.

Verdi had written the last part of the piece for a collaborative Requiem work that had been abandoned a few years before. Upon the death of Manzoni, Verdi revisited the work and completed the entire work. The piece had its world premiere in the church of San Marco in Milan on May 22, 1874, marking the year anniversary of the writer’s death with Verdi himself serving as conductor.

Feel the emotion of a powerful performance with Verdi Requiem tickets. The piece requires four soloists, a double choir and an orchestra. There are seven main sections in the work. The first section, the “Requiem” consists of the Introit, performed by the chorus and the Kyrie, with the soloists and chorus. The longest part with the most parts is the second section, the “Dies Irae,” or Day of Wrath.

Verdi varies the rhythms and inserts many stark contrasts in the composition to maximize the emotional impact of the text.  The “Dies Irae” theme has become a part of modern culture and is used throughout the work.
