Their follow-up album Black Metal, however, proved their most influential. In the years after its release, the album spawned its own subgenre of heavy metal music which remains popular to this day.
Though the band underwent a number of hiatuses in the late '90s and early 2000s, they reunited in 2015 under the name Venom Inc. The group continues to tour to a devoted cult following, and are cited by music historians as one of the most significant heavy metal bands of all time.
