Unleash the Archers is a Canadian power metal band hailing from Victoria, British Columbia, now signed to Napalm Records. The band's musical style is a hybrid of traditional heavy metal, power metal, and melodic death metal.
With former member Brayden Dyczkowski on lead guitar, vocalist Brittney Hayes and drummer Scott Buchanan created Unleash the Archers in late 2007. After his departure from Canadian death metal band Meatlocker Seven, former member Mike Selman was hired. For the first few months of Unleash The Archers' career, the bass player position was vacant, until Zahk Hedstrom joined in October 2007.
The band's debut studio effort, Behold the Devastation, was produced by Jason Hywell Martin at Omega Mediacore Studios in Richmond, BC and released independently in August 2009. On June 26, 2015, Time Stands Still was released in Europe and July 10 in North America. This lineup change has altered the band's sound and driven it toward a more conventional heavy metal direction, with the addition of Andrew Kingsley, who is also trained in jazz, on guitar.
Brayden Dyczkowski had been one of the band's main songwriters until his departure in late 2013. On May 26, 2015, the band released the "Tonight We Ride" video, a tribute to Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. The video was shot in the Nevada desert, with equipment from Burning Man's Death Guild Thunderdome camp.
Headbangers unite with Unleash the Archers tickets. Their next album, Apex was released on June 2, 2017. Their studio effort became their first to appear on Billboard charts, debuting at No. 3 on the iTunes metal charts. They released their fifth full-length album, Abyss, in August 2020, continuing the saga of Apex.
