Tugan Sokhiev Concert Tickets
Hear the euphoric sounds of the symphony with Tugan Sokhiev tickets. Sokhiev is a young and talented conductor. He began to study piano at the tender age of 7, but it was not until he turned 17 that Sokhieve had his first experience with conducting. This happened in large part for inspiration from Anatoly Briskin. The next year saw him go off studying composition at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory where Ilya Musin taught before passing away in 1999. Following his production of an opera in Iceland, General Director of Welsh National Opera, Anthony Freud named Sokhiev music director and artistic director in 2001. His first conducting work with this position was as revivals to Don Giovanni, Cavalleria Rusticana and I Pagliacci. With those successes came other projects too: Russian Series which contains the work of iconic Russian composers and a production of Eugene Onegin.
Sokhiev was named principal conductor and artistic director of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (DSO) in September 2010. He took over as music director with immediate effect, making him one of only a handful to hold both titles at once. In January 2014 he succeeded Gergiev who had held these posts since 2000; since then Sokhiev has been Bolshoi Theatre's new composer/conductor for orchestral repertoire.
