Tribes Play Tickets

See the award-winning drama with Tribes tickets. Tribes is a play written by Nina Raine about the ways in which families and subcultures form their own values and hierarchies. It follows the tribulations of a deaf Jewish family living in London. Deaf parents Beth and Christopher struggle to raise their three children, two of which can hear. Child Billy, who was born deaf, is never taught sign language. His friendship with Sylvia, who can hear but is slowly going deaf, teaches him about sign language and the latent beliefs of the deaf community.

Tribes premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 2010, where it was directed by Robert Mitchell and starred Michelle Terry and Stanley Townsend. The play’s early popularity saw it move to off-Broadway at the Barrow Street Theater in 2012. It has since been adapted for numerous theatre troupes across the US, most notably by the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego and the Artists Repertory Theatre in Portland.

Tribes was universally praised by critics upon its release, with several four-star reviews in prominent publications like the Sunday Express, Daily Telegraph and the Times.
