Tribes premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 2010, where it was directed by Robert Mitchell and starred Michelle Terry and Stanley Townsend. The play’s early popularity saw it move to off-Broadway at the Barrow Street Theater in 2012. It has since been adapted for numerous theatre troupes across the US, most notably by the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego and the Artists Repertory Theatre in Portland.
Tribes was universally praised by critics upon its release, with several four-star reviews in prominent publications like the Sunday Express, Daily Telegraph and the Times.
