While attending the California Institute of the Arts they began playing gigs around campus. Originally taking the name of Pangea the group was forced to change their name due to conflicts.

After the release of their sophomore album Living Dummy in 2011, the band went on tour with groups like The Black Lips, Gap Dream and Cosmonauts. In October of 2021, Together Pangea released their fifth studio album Dye.
