His debut album with Avail, entitled Satiate (1992), was well-received by critics and fans alike, earning a 4.5 out of 5 stars on Allmusic. Their sophomore album, Dixie (1994), was even more popular. Not only did it earn a 4 out of 5 stars on Allmusic, but also a 7.8 out of 10 on Pitchfork Media. While singing for Avail, he decided to make the leap and produce music on his own in 2004 as well.

One of Barry’s most popular songs off of Manchester (2008) was “Dog Bumped.” Given Barry’s diverse musical experience, it’s to no surprise that he’s shared the stage with countless other renowned rock artists. Among others, he’s performed alongside Against Me!, Bad Cop, and Masked Intruder.
