'Lost in the Dream' was released after a period of intense touring and Granduciel used his experience of being on the road as the inspiration behind the songs. The album debuted at number 26 in the Billboard Album Charts and was cited by industry trend-spotting specialists Metacritic as the most critically acclaimed album of 2014. For the 2017 Record Store Day, they released their new single 'Thinking of a Place' with the announcement of a new album and tour later in the year. 'A Deeper Understanding' was released through Atlantic Records in August 2017, featuring the lead single along with 'Holding On', 'Strangest Thing', 'Pain' and 'Up All Night'.
