Scott Blonde and Lisa Light are the band’s founding members. The two met after being introduced by Blonde’s manager, who was Light’s boyfriend at the time. Blonde and Light started dating each other soon after. Light joined Blonde’s band Applesaucer around that same time. However, the couple was forced to leave the group after repeatedly making out during band practices. These events prompted Blonde and Light to split off and create The Lovemakers. Julia Johari and Michael Gorman, along with Blonde and Light, are the four current members of the band.
Over the years, The Lovemakers have come out with at three albums, two EPs and several singles. Their first full-length album Times of Romance was released in 2005. This project introduced some of their most popular songs, including “Shake That Ass,” “Prepare for the Fight” and “Set Me Free.” Misery Loves Company came out in 2007, and was followed by the release of Let’s Be Friends in 2009.
