Born in 1943, Joni Mitchell is a Canadian-American singer/songwriter. Her heartfelt songs talk of social and philosophical ideas and express her feelings on womanhood, romance and disillusionment. She used elements of pop, folk and jazz to develop her signature sound, beginning with her debut album Song to a Seagull in 1968. In 1971, she released Blue, which went on to be named one of the greatest albums of all time by Rolling Stone. Mitchell was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 and won nine Grammy Awards. She is considered one of the most influential female artists in the 20th century, and her legacy lives on today through the dedication of talented tribute bands.
