Watch the most legendary book in history be turned into a musical with The Count of Monte Cristo tickets. Based on the 1844 book by Alexandre Duma and the 2002 film adaptation, this musical was composed by Frank Wildhorn and Jack Murphy.
Brandi Burkhardt, James Barbour, Natalie Toro, Gregg Edelmann, and other Broadway cast members of A Tale of Two Cities held a workshop of the musical The Count of Monte Cristo in New York City in November 2008. Many well-known Wildhorn performers were there. The play debuted on March 14, 2009, at Theater St. Gallen in St. Gallen, Switzerland. The first global production of the show aired on April 21, 2010, in Seoul, Korea's Universal Arts Center, directed by Robert Johanson. The US premiere of the musical was given at BYU, where Wildhorn had attended to perform and teach master classes. After seeing the many excellent artists, Wildhorn inquired if BYU would be interested in hosting the presentation. The professional premiere in America was staged by Pioneer Theatre Company in Salt Lake City, Utah, under the direction of Marcia Dodge, in May 2016.
