Their song "Done" recorded by the Band Perry topped the Billboard's Country Airplay chart. Shortly afterward, they began performing as a duo called John & Jacob, releasing an independent self-titled full-length album in 2014, which included the single "Be My Girl" that was played on the Nashville TV series. John & Jacob were also invited to play on Kacey Musgraves's 2014 tour.
While on that tour, John and Jacob started to work with drummer Trevor Davis, and soon after they welcomed Davis to the band and renamed themselves The Brummies, taking their name from slang for natives of Birmingham, England. The Brummies 2018 debut album, Eternal Reach, is an LP that mixes up the genres of pop, classic rock, yacht rock and album-oriented rock. They followed that up with Automatic World in 2020.
