The Bombpops were created by van Dam and Razavi in 2007, in part because the two had wanted to find their own sound distinct from the heavy metal music they’d played in previous groups.

The band went through several iterations before drummer Josh Lewis and bassist Neil Wayne joined to give the Bombpops their final form. Van Dam and Razi recruited Lewis and Wayne after seeing them perform at a local Battle of the Bands competition. The four named the band after a type of ice cream.

The Bombpops started releasing music in 2010, putting out the two EPs Like I Care and Stole the TV through Red Scare Industries. It would take until 2015 however, for the band to find a dedicated following. That year’s release of Can of Worms saw them gain enough momentum to begin touring in Europe.
