The critically acclaimed album was an instant success and peaked in the UK Indie charts at No. 12.
In 1981, The Adicts debuted its first studio album, Songs of Praise, which peaked at No. 15 on the UK Indie charts. The band's first hit single, "Viva la Revolution," was released in 1982 and would become one of The Adicts most iconic songs. The Adicts' highest-charting hit single, "Bad Boy," debuted in 1983.
The Adicts tickets were in high demand following the band's swift success. The Adicts released two more albums in the 1980s, Smart Alex (1985) and Fifth Overture (1986). In 1992, The Adicts worked with US label Cleopatra Records. The band released Twenty-Seven in the United States that same year and in the UK the following year. The Adicts re-released its first three albums in the US in 1993.
The Adicts took a brief hiatus from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s. In 2002, The Adicts released Rise and Shine in the United States. The band released four more studio albums throughout the 2000s, including Songs of Praise: 25th Anniversary Edition (2008), Life Goes On (2009), All the Young Droogs (2012) and And It Was So! (2017).
