She has played with jazz legends such as Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock, Stan Getz and others. She is also a professor at the Berklee College of Music.

Carrington’s debut was at the Wichita Jazz Festival, playing with Clark Terry. She began studying at the Berklee College of Music at the age of 11 and studied under Alan Dawson, recording TLC with Friends with Kenny Barron, George Coleman, her father and Buster Williams. In 1983, Carrington moved to New York, immersing herself in the jazz scene and working with artists such as Stan Getz, James Moody, Pharoah Sanders and Cassandra Wilson. She then moved to Los Angeles late in the decade to become the house drummer for the Arsenio Hall Show.
