Born July 30, 1997, Teofimo “The Takeover” Lopez (born Teófimo Andrés López Rivera Jr.) is a young Honduran-American that was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas. But he was raised and represents Brooklyn, New York, as the youngest of three children by immigrant parents from Honduras. At one point in his professional boxing career, he was the undisputed, unified-lightweight world champion (2020) and held four world titles, including the IBF (2019), WBA (Super), WBO and Ring (2020).
During his amateur career, he identified as an orthodox fighter and reports say he has a record of 150 wins and 20 losses. Lopez’s amateur career comprised of multiple entries into national competitions where he gained recognition, such as the U.S. National Youth Championships, U.S. National Golden Glove and U.S. Olympic Trials. Throughout his amateur career, he competed in Golden Glove competitions and represented Honduras at the 2016 Olympic Games.
