One of Tanglewood’s most popular traditions, Tanglewood on Parade dates back to 1940. Berkshire Music Center Director Serge Koussevitzky organized an Allied Associated Benefit Show in the event’s honor. This day-long event includes performances by students of the Berkshire Music Center featuring chamber music, orchestral music, brass fanfares, opera scenes, and choral works, culminating with a gala concert in the Shed. In 1946, following WWII, the benefit was renamed Tanglewood on Parade and has become an annual celebration and a fundraiser to support the activities of the Berkshire Music Center. The extravaganza even features such programs as "The Ride of the Valkyries from Die Walkure, and The Lost Words. There will also be performances by the Boston Symphony Children's Choir.
