Tamburitzans Concert Tickets

Celebrate the sounds of world music with Tamburitzans tickets. The Tamburitzans, previously known as the Duquesne University Tamburitzans, are a multicultural song and dance troupe from Pittsburgh, Pa. Devoted to raising awareness of intercultural world music, the Tamburitzans are the longest-running such ensemble in the US.

The Tamburitzans was founded in 1937 by Dr. A. Lester Pierce as a reinvention of his previous group, the Slavonic Tamburitza Orchestra of St. Edward’s University. Due to Pittsburgh’s diverse array of ethnic communities, the Tamburitzans were immediately well-received. A partnership with Duquesne University led to a popular work scholarship program, and greatly increased the group’s exposure.

Known affectionately to fans as “the Tammies,” the ensemble began touring both at home and abroad, developing their signature sound that blends indigenous folk styles from across Eastern Europe. Beginning in the mid-2010s, the Tamburitzans became an independent non-profit organization, and they are now supported by the Pittsburgh International Folk Arts Institute. They are currently headquartered at the former site of the Warner Bros. film exchange. Whether you are from Eastern Europe, have a love of folk music or simply want to expand your horizons, you will not want to miss out on a pair of Tamburitzans tickets.
