Sunfest was created in 1982 by Sunfest of Palm Beach County Inc. as a way to promote culture and the arts in Palm Beach. The company consists of a number of sponsors including the state of Florida itself. The inaugural event took place over ten days, but the festival was reduced to a three-day format in 1984. In the early ‘90s, the event was expanded to five days following the 1991 Sunfest, which saw nearly 350,000 guests. 

Attendees can expect a number of activities including the Battle of the Bands competition, floating bars and an art district where artists create their artwork live.
