He grew up in Smith County, Texas and sang at the Bethel Temple Church of God In Christ. Following the death of his mother, Rayford moved to San Diego, Calif., with his grandmother. Rayford released his first solo album in 2010. The album was dubbed Blind Alley. His second solo album, Dangerous, was released in 2013. Kim Wilson and Kid Andersen appeared on Dangerous. It reached number two on the Blues Debut Chart and peaked at number six on the Roots Music Chart.
