Miller is best known for his work with The Steve Miller Band, a group he started in 1966 that still tours to this day. One of their earliest performances was as a backing band for Chuck Berry at his Live at Fillmore Auditorium album recording. Three of the group's first 5 albums debuted in the Billboard 200. In 1973 things exploded with the release of the band's iconic album, The Joker. The album's title track received significant radio airplay and shot to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The hit single was only the first of many with songs like “Fly Like an Eagle” and “Take the Money and Run” dominating the charts as the group hit the road with the Eagles in 1978.
