Unfortunately, disagreements with his record company Nemperor started to affect his career and after releasing his self-titled fourth album in 1982 contractual wrangles with Nemperor meant it was to be another six years before the artist extricated himself from his contract and released another album with his new record company Geffen Records. Forbert remains a highly respected artist within the genre latterly known as Americana. He has 18 studio albums to his credit and regularly performs live in America.
