The Saint Lawrence Saints men’s hockey team was formed in 1925 and has been competing at the top ranks of American college hockey ever since. Originally, the team played on an outdoor rink located at the current site of Whitman Hall on St. Lawrence University’s beautiful upstate New York campus. They now play in Appleton Arena, which was built in 1951 and upgraded many times since.

St. Lawrence is a member of the NCAA’s Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). The ECAC includes 12 schools in the New England area, half of which are Ivy League schools. ECAC Hockey is the only Division I hockey conference with men’s and women’s teams from all member schools.

The program has launched one Olympian, goaltender Richie Broadbelt who played for the Canadian Hockey team in 1964, and over two dozen NHL players, including Stanley Cup winners Brandon Bollig and Rich Peverley.
