Emerging from Portland Maine in 2005 Sparks the Rescue shifts into multiple genres including post-punk, post-hardcore, and pop-rock. The members of Sparks the Rescue spent years performing in three contending bands around their local area until they decided to join forces. The band’s lineup consists of Alex Roy (lead vocals, keyboard), Toby McAllister (lead guitar, vocals), Matt Libby (rhythm guitar), Mat Petrin (bass), and Nathan Spencer (drums). Powered by unforgettable melodies and passionate lyrics Sparks the Rescue is always a guitar riff away from hitting another level. The band derives its name from Nicholas Sparks and his novel, The Rescue. In 2007 Sparks the Rescue made their debut label release with their six-track EP entitled The Secrets We Can’t Keep. The group released Stumbling Skyward and Hey, Mr. Allure before signing with a label.
Consistently rocking with their skate-punk aesthetic Sparks the Rescue tickets don’t let up. Making major noise with their first full-length album Eyes to the Sun in 2008 helped the band start touring nationwide. The album was re-released after the group signed with Fearless Records and marked the group’s progression into a more refined punk rock sound from their screamo origins. With tracks featured on shows like MTV’s The Real World: Cancun, Sparks the Rescue began touring festivals performing alongside bands like Sum 41 and The All-American Rejects. The majority of Sparks releases are in EPs, but they did follow up their debut with 2011s full-length Worst Thing I’ve Been Cursed With.
