He has worked with a number of high-profile bands including Les Claypool’s Fancy Band, Frog Brigade and Garage a Trois. 

A Seattle native, Skerik began learning to play the saxophone while still in middle school. Finding inspiration in acts like The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd, the young musician founded the jazz/rock fusion band Uncle Jam as a teenager. In the years that followed, Sketik would perform with a number of critically-acclaimed jazz groups such as Critters Buggin, Ponga and the Syncopated Taint Septet. Through his work with these groups, the artist amassed a devoted cult following in underground jazz circles. 

In 2006, the saxophonist released the album Husky with the Syncopated Taint Septet, which earned universal critical praise. Skerik then received the Earshot Jazz Golden Ear Award for Northwest Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year. He has since toured with the likes of Pearl Jam, Roger Waters and Bonnie Raitt, among others.
