Along with being a vocalist, Biro also played guitar and piano. The other members of the group include Mike Ticar (lead guitar, backing vocals), Cam Snooks (rhythm guitar), and Jordan Trask (drums). Utilizing a sound reminiscent of Simple Plan with a bit harder edge, Selfish Things quickly became a force in the alternative rock genre. Their first single was entitled “Spooky Action at a Distance” and dealt with self-hate and suffering. Approaching the darkest subjects with a melody for musical hope is a mainstay of Selfish Thing’s music.
Unafraid of leaving their heart out for their fans on the stage or in their songs Selfish Things tickets are an emotional journey. Constantly making the audience question what is, Selfish Things like to produce songs that deliver on multiple levels. Their 2018 EP Vertical Love which was produced by James Paul Wisner of Paramore was heavily themed taking inspiration from the HBO series True Detective. Songs like “Rust Cohle Never Sleeps” and “8147 Mulholland Terrace” serve as call-outs to the show that Biro was entranced with during recording. Biro would state how the character Rust Cohle spoke with him on a spiritual level. With their debut album Logos released in September of 2019 Selfish Things look to continue to create deep and introspective tunes.
