Placing third, Hamilton went on to compete in his first Olympic Games in Lake Placid. Hamilton would go on to take first place in the U.S. Championships in 1981, 1982 and 1983. He finally won an Olympic gold medal in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. With an incredible career in figure skating, Hamilton used his fame to give back through the Scott Hamilton Cares Foundation, offering support to people with cancer.
