Ashworth went on to study at the Eastman School of Music in New York and arranged orchestral compositions for films and commercials after graduation. She then taught music in and around Los Angeles before joining the grunge rock band Cherry Glazerr in 2015.

After three years with Cherry Glazerr, Ashworth set off on her solo career, debuting her first single, “Callous” on SoundCloud. The artist quickly met with critical acclaim, and Pitchfork gave “Callous” their Best New Track award. Offers from record labels quickly followed, and Ashworth signed to the Domino Recording Company later that year. Multiple publications soon after mentioned her as one of rock music’s artists to watch.

Ashworth has described her writing process as slapdash, often writing on GarageBand on her iPad while on tour before re-recording in the studio. She tours widely alongside similar artists like Mitski, King Tuff and Menace Beach. Ashworth released her first full-length album, Sasami, in 2019.
