Shortly thereafter, she began performing in clubs, coffeehouses and more prominent theaters in the heart of her hometown. The band featured Binky the Bassist, Borges’ longtime friend and a revolving cast of lead guitarists and drummers. 

Borges has performed at the legendary South by Southwest Festival in Texas and signed a record deal with Blue Corn Records. She released her critically acclaimed debut album, Silver City in 2005 and was compared to the likes of Maria McKee from Lone Justice.
