Bush landed a deal with Capitol Records and released his debut album, later taking time out to finish high school before releasing his sophomore album, Sammie, in 2006 via Dallas Austin's Rowdy Records. The LP reached Number 42 on the Billboard 200 chart and featured production muscle from Bryan Michael Cox, Jazze Pha, Daron Jones, Adonis Shropshire, Novel and Austin himself. In 2008, Bush was featured on rapper Soulja Boy's hit single "Kiss Me thru the Phone," which peaked at Number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned Bush a BET Awards nomination in 2009.
