Roberts won the CASBY Award for Best New Artist in 2002 before releasing We Were Born in a Flame through Universal Music. The album would be certified double platinum, earning Roberts three Juno Awards in 2004. He would achieve two number one hit songs on subsequent albums Chemical City and Love at the End of the World.
