The new Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra performs at both the Community Center Theatre and the Mondavi Center on the campus of the University of California, Davis.

The first musical director of the Sacramento was Michael Morgan, who served in that role until 2021. The Philharmonic sought to avoid the pitfalls of the Symphony and requested studies to determine the market for professional orchestral music, and the results came back that there was a substantial market for the reformed group.
