Born in Peabody in 1977, Montbleau began learning to play guitar at nine years old. While in college at Villanova University he began seriously considering a professional career in music, and shortly after graduation began performing at Boston’s House of Blues. 

Through the late ‘90s and early 2000s, Montbleau developed a devoted regional following in and around Boston and Cambridge, then recruited James Cohen, Jason Cohen, Laurence Scudder and Matt Giannaros to form the Ryan Montbleau Band. The band released their first album together, One Fine Color, in 2006. 

The band soon enjoyed significant success and tours more than 200 shows per year. They have opened for high-profile acts such as Melissa Ferrick, Martin Sexton and John P. Hammond. The Ryan Montbleau Band are also regulars and fan favorites at Connecticut’s Gathering of the Vibes Festival. Montbleau has earned the Boston Music Award for Best Local Male Vocalist, second prize at the International Songwriting Competition and nomination for the MTV Music Award for Best Concert Experience.
