Its first recording was of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6. Pathetique was released on Virgin Classics. This was the first of over eighty recordings for labels ranging from Warner Classics and Ondine to Deutsche Grammophon and Pentatone.

The Russian National Orchestra, or RNO, has worked with other conductors such as Vladimir Jurowski, Paavo Järvi and Carlo Ponti. Jurowski has conducted around the world, performing at the Metropolitan Opera in 1999 as well as conducting the Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov Opera’s May Night at the Wexford Festival in 1995.

Kent Nagano, an American conductor out of Berkeley, Calif., led the orchestra to record Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf along with Beintus’ Wolf Tracks. A Russian narration over the recording followed, done by actors Oleg Tabakov and Sergei Bezrukov. A Spanish narration followed this in 2007 by Antonio Banderas and 2011 saw a Mandarin version. Other narrations over this work have included Danny Glover, model Tatiana Sorokko and Diana Douglas.

The Russian National Orchestra tours annually, coming to the music capitals of Europe, the Americas and Asia. It is also a frequent guest at music festivals such as Edinburgh, Festival Napa Valley and the BBC Proms.
