He learned his first chords from his mother, Kim Smith, who is featured on his second album. After playing in the            Lubbock club scene Shahan decided to make his move and relocated to Fort Worth, Texas where he worked diligently on becoming a solo artist, working on his craft and recording. He finally released his debut album, Men and Coyotes in 2015 after building a sizable following.

Shahan’s second album, Culberson County, was released in 2018, and features collaborators such as solo artist Elijah Ford as producer, drummer Matthew “Paw Paw” Smith, and Parker Morrow on bass with lead guitar handled by Daniel Sproul. Harmonies on selected songs are provided by Charlie Shafter and Bonnie Bishop. Popular tracks on the album include “Revolution” and “Waterbill.”
